Martially Marked Colt Model 1860 Army
American Civil War

.44 Cal. 8" barrel length. SN: 86937. (Mfg. Ca 1863) Cleaned bare metal finish overall with iron rear gripstrap, brass forward gripstrap, rebated cylinder with Ormsby's Naval Engagement scene, and one piece walnut grips. Single action six-shot percussion revolver mounting German Silver front blade and hammer rear notch sights. Top of the barrel marked in a single line -ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-. Left frame is struck COLTS/PATENT. Item features a three screw frame, with the recoil shield and rear backstrap cut for shoulder stock. Serial numbers match on the gripstraps, frame, barrel, arbor pin, and wedge pin. Martial marks include D initials to both gripstraps, T initial in two places on cylinder and to the right barrel. Grips have been sanded, leaving the inspector cartouches to both sides weak. Left grip appears to show the G.G.S cartouche of George G. Saunders, with the right displaying JT for John Taylor. {ANTIQUE}
