Barrel marked in a single weak line forward of the rear sight CAST STEEL 1864. Two weak script GC (George Curtis) inspection cartouches are present at the reverse wrist. Obverse butt stamped with a large number of "2" marks, reverse of butt with a deeply carved CO E marking. Matching serial numbers on receiver and breech block. This carbine was not located in the Springfield Research Service database, however the closest guns bracketing this number are #11826 which was issued to Company K of the 4th Wisconsin Cavalry and #11891 which was issued to Company H of the 6th Ohio Cavalry. {ANTIQUE}
