Lot Description

Shin Shinto Wakizashi with Martial Leather Wrapped Scabbard

23.375" Nagasa (Blade length). 36.125" overall with Tsuka (Hilt) and Saya (Scabbard). Shinogi-Zukuri katana blade with polished O-Kissaki and Ihori Mune displaying single mekugi pin hole to the signed nakago. Blade displays Mokume Hada and a Sugu Hamon line with reground tip obscuring the Boshi. The Futsu Nakago displays a Kuri-Jiri tip. Shin Shinto katana bears an eroded Gi-mei. This gendaito comes with a traditional black lacquer wood saya inside of a leather sleeve fitted with twin suspension rings after the fashion of wartime swords. Tsuba is the round maru gata form and composed of iron, with geometric gold patterns around the kaku mimi edge. Fuchi and Kashira are two-piece shakudo with rope pattern engraving on the inner edges and plum blossom motifs adorning the blackened ends. Black silk grip tape encloses a traditional white same, with two menuki in blackened shakudo representing cranes emerging from overlapping broad leaves and ferns.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
