Lot Description
Group of Civil War Era Accoutrements: 2 Mann's Patent Cartridge Boxes, 2 Cap Pouches and 2 Carbine Socekts
American Civil War
1) Mann's Patent Cartridge Box. Nominally 6.375"x4.2"x1.6", not including the outer flap. Made of black dyed bridle leather with brass finial and copper rivets. Outer flap clearly embossed with a US with an oval surrounding it with the Mann patent information and Gaylord maker's markings. Ordnance inspection marks present on outer flap as well. Includes the Mann's patent sectioned tin magazine on the interior.
2) Mann's Patent Cartridge Box. Nominally 6.375"x4.2"x1.6", not including the outer flap. Made of black dyed bridle leather that has toned to a medium chocolate brown with brass finial and copper rivets.Outer flap clearly embossed with a US with an oval surrounding it with the Mann patent information and Gaylord maker's markings. Ordnance inspection marks present on outer flap as well. Includes the Mann's patent sectioned tin magazine on the interior.
3) Civil War era Cap Pouch by WH Wilkinson. Inner flap with maker's mark, outer flap with inspection mark and two added "US" markings. Missing the wool and the pick from inside.
4) Civil War era Cap Pouch by AW Decrow. Inner flap with maker's mark, no inspection marks on outer flap. Missing the wool from the inside but the vent pick is present.
5) and 6): Two Civil War era carbine sockets for use with cavalry tack. One Metzger marked the other with two sets of inspection initials.
