Smith & Wesson Model No 2 "Old Army" Revolver
American Civil War

.32RF Short. 6" ribbed barrel. SN: 39337 (mfg.c a. 1865). Blued finish, color case hardened hammer, smooth varnished rosewood grips. Single action tip up barrel cartridge revolver with six-chambered unfluted cylinder, stop spring notch rear sight and brass blade front sight. Standard Smith & Wesson address on barrel rib, standard patent date information on cylinder. Matching serial numbers on butt and inside right grip. Matching assembly number 519 on left of frame under grip, on rear face of barrel web and on face of cylinder. A solid example of one of the first really successful belt sized cartridge revolvers to be manufactured in the United States and a popular handgun with many Union junior officers. {ANTIQUE}
