Lot Description
Modified Ames Model 1860 Cavalry Saber
American Civil War
34.75" blade length, 41" overall with hilt. Curved single edged fullered blade with nickel plated finish, and the branches cut off the guard, leaving only the knuckle bow. Item features a leather wrapped hilt bound in wire. The blade shows some flaking along the edges, scattered cracks, and has been split in two and brass brazed back together approximately 15" from the tip. Ricasso shows Ames manufacturer mark to left side and US/GKC/1865 to the right.
