Lot Description
Group of 11 US Socket Bayonets: 9 US Model 1855 .58 Caliber, 2 US Model 1873 for .45-70 with Scabbards and 1 Spare Scabbard Body
Group includes nine US Model 1855 Socket Bayonets for .58 caliber rifle muskets from 1855-1864 and through the early Allin conversions until 1870. All have nominally 18" blades, functional locking rings and are all US marked on the blade. Also includes two US Model 1873 blued Trapdoor Rifle Bayoents for the Models 1873 through 1884 and many of the secondary and trials arms used during that period. Both have nominally 18" blades, are US marked and have functional locking rings. Both with metal scabbards, one with an early Hoffmann swivel frog and one with a later prairie belt brass hook frog. Also includes one spare metal trapdoor bayonet scabbard without any frog.
