Lot Description

**L.C. Smith Field Grade 12 Gauge Shotgun

12 Gauge. 30.125" barrel length. SN: S1340. 2.75" chamber length. Modified Left. Cylinder Right. Blued metal finish with case colored frame mounting walnut semi-pistol grip stock with bordered checkering to wrist and splinter forend, and a HAWKINS recoil pad. Double barrel sidelock ejector shotgun mounting twin white bead sights on a matted barrel rib. Sideplates show standard L.C. SMITH maker marks with right barrel additionally marked L.C. SMITH field GRADE. Watertables struck FWE FIELD with barrel flats exhibiting standard firing proofs and ARMOR STEEL markings. A further FIELD grade mark appears on the flats. Serial numbers match on the barrel flats, watertables, and forend. Comes with a letter from the L.C. Smith Collectors Association signed by James Stubbendieck and dated July 10, 2020. The letter affirms that this shotgun was finished on December 20, 1946 and shipped out on October 29, 1947. Moreover, the ledgers indicate it was made with a feather weight frame, automatic ejectors, and a single sighting plane barrel rib, in addition to 30 inch barrels. Per the consignor, the safety was disengaged for use as target shotgun. {C&R}
