Ames Model 1832 Heavy Artillery Saber & Scabbard With Buff Belt Dated 1843
Mexican American War
19.125" double edged wasp waisted blade with 10.5" median fuller and two 3.5" secondary fullers. Overall length 25.25". 6" cast brass hilt with fish scale grip and 4.125" cross guard. Reverse ricasso stamped with a {Spread Winged Eagle}/N.P. AMES/SPRINGFIELD and obverse ricasso stamped U.S/1843/JCB. Obverse guard with a script WAT inspection as well. Includes a white buff artillery sword belt with a cast brass two-piece US buckle and the correct pattern brass mounted leather scabbard.
