Starr Model 1863 Single Action Army Revolver
American Civil War

.44 caliber. 8" round barrel. SN: 38769. Blued and color casehardened finish, smooth one-piece wood grip. Single action 6-shot percussion hinged frame revolver with fixed notch rear sight and blade front sight. Lower left of frame marked in a single line STARR ARMS Co NEW YORK and lower right side of frame marked STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856. Sub-inspected throughout, both grips with weak, but visible script cartouches. Matching serial numbers on the lower front of the frame, on the hammer cut out in the frame and on the cylinder. The Starr 1863 Single Action Army was one of the most widely used percussion revolver by the US Military during the American Civil War with about 25,000 delivered to the Ordnance Department for use during the war. {ANTIQUE}
