Single action percussion revolver with five chambered un-fluted cylinder, toggle link loading lever with ball detent retaining system, grooved top strap rear sight and dovetailed blade front sight. Top of barrel marked in two lines: B.F. JOSLYN/PAT. MAY 4th 1858. Matching full serial number 2474 on bottom of barrel, butt cap, on frame under butt cap and stamped inside both grips. Partial serial number 74 on the side of the loading lever hinge, on the cylinder arbor pin and on the rear face of the cylinder. One of the less common of the secondary martial revolver from the American Civil War, only about 3,000 of these revolvers were produced, to somewhat mixed reviews from the field.
