Lot Description
Two WWII US M1 Helmets, One with Paratrooper Liner
World War II
Lot of Two M1 Steel Helmets Including:
1.) L: 11.5", W: 10", H: 7.5"
WWII McCord steel helmet with 777A heat mark, fixed bales, and front seam rim. The flanks of the helmet are painted with stencil {White Hearts} above a vertical dash. The shell has been repainted, with some flaking and losses on the original textured finish filled in with repaint. The hearts are painted on over the refinish, and appear to have been hand painted using stencils. Item comes with a high pressure composite Paratrooper liner with intact A straps, and a Westinghouse production stamp in the crown. Lacks the chin cup, and rear adjustment strap. Comes with no provenance.
2.) L: 11.5", W: 10", H: 7.5"
M1 steel helmet with spot welded front seam and swivel bales mounting a Firestone made high pressure composite liner. The helmet has been repainted multiple times with repaint completely obscuring the heat mark. Liner has also been repainted and is missing the chinstrap. The liner features the forward grommet port for appliance mounting.
