US Pattern 1851 Blackened Buff Leather Artillery Saber Belt
American Civil War
Nominally 40" in overall length (if fully extended) and 1.5" wide. Currently adjusted for about a 36" waist. Constructed of blackened buff leather, brass hardware and with a gilt cast brass Pattern of 1851 sword belt plate with three-piece applied German silver wreath. Buckle and keeper with matching bench mark 233. A fixed frog is suspended from the rectangular brass loops, designed to accept the scabbard of a US Model 1832 Heavy Artillery Sword. Unmarked.
