Lot Description

Michael Silvey Made Replica Vietnam SOG Recon Knife & Scabbard

7.5" slightly curved, clip point blade with a 3.75" false edge and a .875" coil. Overall length is 12.125". 4.75" hilt with stacked leather washer grip and brass guard and pommel cap. Guard measures 2.36" long and is about .46" thick at the widest point. Reverse of blade stamped SILVEY forward of the guard. Includes a well made black leather sheath with snap retention strap and sharpening stone pouch with stone. Reverse of scabbard stamped SILVEY as well. This museum grade replica of a MACV SOG "Recon" knife was produced by noted knife maker, historian and author Michael Silvey. Silvey is probably the leading expert on the SOG knife and its variations, and has published several books on fighting knives, as well as at least two specifically on SOG knives. Only 6 of these marker marked knives were produced by Michael circa 1994, a couple "sterile" unmarked examples were made as well. This knife was formerly in the collection of noted fighting collector, dealer and researcher John Gibson and can still be seen in the collection section of his website. A very rare opportunity to own a great historical replica from a fine knife maker.
