Lot Description

D Fisher Marked Full Stock Percussion Rifle

.41 Cal. 42.75" barrel length. SN: NSN. Deep brown patina overall with brass stock fittings mounting a wedge retained full length maple stock with cheek rest to left butt. Single shot percussion rifle with semi-buckhorn rear and German Silver front blade sights. Item features double set triggers and an octagonal barrel. Some light border engraving on the hammer and lockplate with lockmaker's mark reading R. KINGSLAND/WARRANTED. The lock itself has a fitted cone filling in the former cut-out for the pan, indicating it was at one point a flintlock. Barrel is struck with the maker mark D. FISHER, most likely Daniel Fisher, a gunmaker known primarily for working in Illinois, where he established his business as early as 1844. When he died in 1855 at the age of 43, his estate was sold off, and the money used to pay off his employees. {ANTIQUE}
