Single shot falling block rifle with assisted opening, double set triggers, and a safety to the tang. Maker marks to the octagonal barrel include CARL BACKMUND, to the upper right flat and MUNCHEN to upper left, the latter followed by German firing proof marks. Barrel exhibits German firing proof and caliber markings to below the barrel in addition to a BOHLER STAHL steel maker mark. Light border scroll encloses the frame, while the top of the barrel and frame are matted. The barrel and toe of the stock mount sling loops. Cheek pad to the left comb. Condition of the finish indicates the rifle was restored at some point. Initials R.H. struck into the barrel. {C&R}
