*C.C. Johnson Customized Winchester Highwall Rifle with J. Unertl Scope in .219 Improved Zipper
.219 Improved Zipper. 26" barrel length. SN: 12469 (mfg. ca. 1887). Blued metal finish with jeweled breechblock and locking bars set in knotty maple semi-pistol grip stock with broad forend featuring bordered checkering to the wrist and forend. Falling block single shot custom rifle by gunsmith C.C. Johnson with signature embellishments suggesting it may have been restored by John Oberlies. Item features Oberlies pattern stippled brass buttplate with an unsigned banner, and jeweling to the breechblock in Oberlies' style. Maker mark to barrel reads C.C. JOHNSON below the rear scope block and caliber marking. Rifle mounts front and rear sling swivel studs, and an EDWARDS SIGHT CO rifle scope in the on J. UNERTL marked mounts. As a remanufactured antique receiver to a modern cartridge caliber, the gun is classified as an FFL firearm rather than an antique by ATF. {MODERN}
