Lot Description
Scarce Cyrillic Marked "Tula Arsenal" Reproduction Russian Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver by Pietta
.36 caliber. 7.5" octagonal barrel. SN: 400309. Blued and color casehardened finish, brass triggerguard and back strap, smooth hardwood grip. Single action reproduction percussion revolver with roll engraved six-chambered un-fluted cylinder, hammer nose notch rear sight and brass cone front sight. Standard Pietta markings, black powder warnings and Italian proofs on barrel. Top barrel marked in Cyrillic which translates literally to "Tula Gunsmiths", meaning Tula Arsenal. These very scarce guns were apparently made for the Russian blackpowder shooting and re-enactor market, as Tula Arsenal did produce a copy of the Colt 1851 Navy Revolver in the mid-19th century. Examples in the US are practically unknown. A very rare reproduction gun, perfect for the Russian Crimean War re-enactor or the collector of 19th century Russian arms who is unlikely to ever find a real Russian-made Colt Navy to acquire and add to their collection. {ANTIQUE}
