Lot Description

Winchester 3rd Model 1873 Rifle in .44-40 with Scarce Round Barrel

.44-40WCF. 24" round barrel. SN: 245533 (mfg. ca.1887). Blued finish, color casehardened hammer and lever, smooth walnut stock with crescent butt and smooth forend. Lever action tubular magazine fed rifle with semi-buckhorn rear sight, dovetailed German silver front sight blade, and trap door in butt for cleaning rods that are not present. Standard two-line "King's Improvement" barrel marking, standard tang marking. Round barrel 1873 rifles are very scarce, making up less than 20% of all 1873 rifle production. A solid example of a scarce variant in the most desirable caliber with some nice blue on the receiver. {ANTIQUE}
