Blued Remington Rider Pocket Revolver Factory Converted to Cartridge
.32RF Short. 3" octagonal barrel. SN: 7178. Blued finish, German silver triggerguard, color casehardened hammer, checkered hard rubber grips. Double action factory cartridge conversion of a percussion pocket pistol with two-piece factory five chambered, un-fluted cylinder, frame notch rear sight and German silver cone front sight. Two-line barrel address reads: MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS' ILION N.Y./RIDER'S PT. AUG. 17, 1858. MAY 3, 1859. Frame and interior of grips serial numbered 7178, bottom of barrel mismatched and numbered 8077. Rear face of cylinder and cylinder back plate with assembly number 570. According to Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Arms, those Remington Rider revolvers that originally left the factory in the cartridge configuration were serial numbered on the exterior of the frame, forward of the triggergurad, while those that left as percussion guns had the frame serial number under the grips {ANTIQUE}
