New York Contract Remington Rolling Block Rifle
Indian Wars
.50-70. 36" barrel. NSN. Bright finish, iron furniture, walnut stock and forend secured by three rounded, spring retained barrel bands. Single shot Rolling Block action breechloading rifle with adjustable military ladder rear sight, musket style combination front sight and socket bayonet lug, sling swivels and a jag head cleaning rod. Standard Remington markings on receiver tang. Numbered "10" in wood behind tang and H/21 on buttplate tang. Two weak cartouches are present on the reverse wrist area. Approximately 15,000 of these rifles were produced for the New York State Militia circa 1872. {ANTIQUE}
