Single shot smoothbore muzzleloading percussion pistol with finger extension triggerguard, adjustable trigger, rear sight missing from the dovetail and a German silver front sight bead. Engraved, bolted percussion lock marked SMITH. Top of barrel marked LONDON. Post-1813 Birmingham proofs under the barrel. A large number of men named "Smith" worked in Birmingham as gunmakers during the mid-19th century, making it nearly impossible to determine which one was the maker or retailer of this gun.
