Lot Description

Henry Deringer Medium Pocket Sized Derringer Pistol

.36 caliber. 2.25" barrel. NSN. Browned finish, color casehardened lock and hammer, German silver mountings, checkered walnut stock with bird's head grip. Single shot percussion muzzleloading pocket pistol with a rifled bore, rudimentary fixed notch rear sight, dovetailed German silver blade front sight and mountings suggesting production circa 1850-1870, nominally 5" in overall length. Engraved back action percussion lock marked DERINGER/PHILADELA with the same stamp applied to the top of the barrel flat at the breech. Breech with Deringer {SUNBURST-P} proof. Engraved German silver mountings, including a shield shaped thumb escutcheon, with a pineapple finial at the front of the triggerguard plate. A hinged cap box is present in butt of the pistol. A lovely little Deringer pistol that has a lot of finish but has suffered from poor storage and might be improved by a careful cleaning. {ANTIQUE}
