Lot Description
Factory Cartridge Conversion of a Remington Model 1861 Navy Revolver
.38CF. 7.5" octagonal barrel. SN: 20973. Blued finish, color casehardened hammer, brass triggerguard, smooth two-piece walnut grips. Single action percussion revolver factory altered to cartridge with an added recoil shield, loading gate and ejector rod system. Topstrap groove rear sight, German silver cone front sight. Weak two-line 1861 date Elliot patent marking and Remington address on barrel. Matching serial numbers under barrel and on lower left of grip frame under grip. Grips with illegible pencil numbering. A relatively scarce Remington factory alteration, much less frequently encountered than those performed on the .44 caliber revolvers. {ANTIQUE}
