Lot Description
Lot of Three Gerome Weinand Sheep Horn Handle Knives Incl: Desert Bighorn, Stone Sheep, and Mongolian Argali
1.) 3.875" blade length. 8.3" overall with handle. Single edge drop point knife with full tang construction, stainless steel guard, and horn grip scales retained by six fasteners. Left blade is etched with WEINAND/LOLO, MT. address and a {Ram among mountains}. Right is further marked Stone Sheep, indicating the source of the horn, and ATS-34, the type of steel used in the blade.
2.) 4.125" blade length. 8.5" overall with hilt. Single edge drop point blade, full tang construction, and mounting horn grip scales retained by five fasteners. Left blade displays the WEINAND/LOLO, MT. mark and {Ram among mountains}. Right is marked Desert/Bighorn.
3.) 4.125" blade length. 8.5" overall with hilt. Single edge drop point blade, full tang construction, stainless steel guard, horn grip scales with five fasteners. WEINAND/LOLO, MT. to left blade. Right blade shows the Dendritic mark for the type of steel used, and Mongolian/Argali for the horn source.
Born in North Dakota in 1935, Gerome Weinand moved to Montana in 1955 after returning from the Korean War. In 1982 he sold his first knife made of metal and micarta scraps, and gradually honed his craft in the years that followed. Weinand favors simple and highly functional patterns embracing traditional fittings and techniques.
