Lot Description
Pair of Vintage Ralph Bone Knives Models U and V in Sheath
3" and 4.5 blade lengths. 9.75" overall with sheath and hilt. Straight single edged blades with the longer of the two featuring a modified clip point with unsharpened false edge, and the smaller a drop point. Both knives feature brass guard and spacers with hidden tangs set in polished walnut grips, with grip serrations cut into the back of each blade. Larger blade struck BONE/LUBBOCK, TEX. enclosed with the {Bone} log, while the shorter one shows a simplified {Bone} logo without text. Markings to the obverse read U/78.3 on the larger knife and V/78.5 to the smaller, indicating these knives were made after Bone sold his company. Comes with a leather scabbard with loop struck by similar Ralph Bone marking, and includes a honing stone in pouch. Rear side of the loop shows leatherworker mark reading JOHNSON'S LEATHER/CASSELBERRY, FLA.
Ralph Bone began producing and selling knives from his Lubbock, Texas address in 1964, and continued to do so until 1970, when he sold his business and began working as an engraver for Smith & Wesson. Through the entirety of his career, Bone proved himself an able and dedicated artist, whose work remains prized by gun and edged weapon collectors alike.
