Lot Description

Three Decorative Javanese Kris Knives with Display Stand

1.) 15.5" blade length. 20.25" with scabbard and hilt. Double edged serpentine wootz steel nine luk blade with carved wood handle and a brass bolster containing glass beads. Item comes with a Sunggingan style scabbard with red painted border and the throat decorated with elaborate geometric and floral patterns enclosing standing figures meeting around the blade.

2.) 16" blade length. 20.5" overall with scabbard and hilt. Double edged serpentine wootz steel nine luk blade, likely dating from the 19th Century and featuring a carved wood hilt with a brass bolster decorated with glass or amethyst beads. Item comes with a Sunggingan scabbard with red painted border. The throat and center of the obverse side are decorated with geometric patterns, and the throat further decorated on both sides with seated tigers.

3.) 14.25" blade length. 20" overall with scabbard and hilt. Double edged serpentine wootz steel blade with double fullers near the guard, and mounting a carved wood hilt. Hilt mounted into a gilt bolster with glass beads. Comes with a Sunggingan scabbard that has red painted edges with floral patterns to the throat enclosing two features meeting on each side and a dragon's maw to one end. Likely 18th Century. Scabbard shows a museum style identification number applied to the tip.

All three items fit in a wood stand carved into the shape of two dragons.
