3 (of 4) volumes only, folio. (Lacking vol.III).
Comprising:
Volumes I-II: Botanical Extracts or Philosophy of Botany. London: T. Bensley for the publishers, White, Johnson and Co. ...and the author, 1810. 2 letterpress titles with allegorical vignettes by Branston after Thurston. (Spotting throughout.) Contemporary green straight-grain morocco gilt (extremities rubbed, several scuffs to boards, some splitting to vol.2 joints). Provenance: John Cave (armorial bookplate); Salisbury Library (bookplates, stamps).
Vol. IV. A New Illustration of the Sexual System of Linnaeus. London: T. Bensley, 1799. Engraved calligraphic title to each part, 88 engraved portraits and botanical plates, one folding, 3 engraved tables, and 2 engraved explanation leaves. Provenance: Leicester City Library (bookplate, embossed stamps). [With:] another copy.
Together, 4 works in 4 volumes (vol.IV in duplicate). FIRST EDITIONS of a mixed incomplete set in various contemporary bindings.
