London: The Bodley Head, (1967). First and limited edition, one of 275 unnumbered copies. Presentation copy, inscribed by Maurice Sendak on front flyleaf: "Dear Sylvia - Mit Liebe! Maurice & Gene." Narrow 8vo. 19, (5) pp. With 8 sepia-toned illustrations by Sendak. Publisher's limp pictorial wrappers, lightly worn, spine ends lightly rubbed. Hanrahan A69
A fine presentation copy of this scarce Christmas keepsake, inscribed by Sendak to his friend Sylvia Milgram, teacher/coordinator for the Bureau of Art, New York City Board of Education, and a lecturer at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. One of only 275 copies printed at the Stellar Press for presentation by The Bodley Head in 1967. None were offered for sale and it remains one of the rarest and sought-after Sendak titles
