Provenance: Christopher Turnor (1809-1886) member of Parliament (Stoke Rochford Library bookplate).FIRST EDITION of Ellis's rare work repudiating claims that Hanibal passed through the Alps via the Little or Great St. Bernard or the Mont Genevre pass. Ellis suggests Hannibal traversed along the Mont Cenis, on the route of the present-day Geneva-Turin railroad. Perret 1492.
