Original boards (rebacked preserving original spine label, boards slightly stained).FIRST EDITION of "an amazing record of a region which remained little known until the twentieth century. It provides meticulous information on a variety of subjects -- history, agriculture, flora and fauna, geology, ethnology, commerce, manufactures, mineralogy; information which was collected under conditions of extreme physical discomfort and at times danger" (M. Archer & T. Falk, India Revealed: The Art and Adventures of James and William Fraser 1801-35, London, 1989).
