Labillardiere was doctor and botanist on Entrecasteaux's voyage in search of La Prouse (see lots 66 and 113), which was "of considerable importance because of the scientific observations that were made and the surveys of the coasts of Tasmania, New Caledonia, and the southwest coast of Australia.
