Ford writes to American actress and singer Pearl Bailey: "Congratulations on your new knee. From my experience you will be dancing fancier than ever. Mine turned out 100% so I have no more alibis on the golf course." Bailey, well known playing the lead in the musical "Hello, Dolly," supported Ford in the 1976 election, voiced her support in a commercial for Ford during the election.
