London: Hurst and Blackett, 1860.2 volumes, 8vo (193 x 120 mm). 2 frontispieces, engraved vignettes on the title pages, folding map. (Light spotting.) Publisher's brown blind-stamped cloth, spine gilt-lettered (Rubbing, discreet library label on spine). FIRST EDITION. McLeod was appointed British Consul to Mozambique in 1856. He gives a detailed account of his service there and the condition of the country, including information on the slave trade.
