Narrative of an Expedition into the Interior of Africa, by the River Niger, in the Steam-vessels Quorra and Alburkah, in 1832, 1833 and 1834. London: Richard Bentley, 1837.2 volumes, 8vo (230 x 140 mm). Lithographed map, 6 aquatint plates. (Marginal spotting or soiling.) Contemporary half calf, marbled boards, spine gilt-letterd (light wear, lacking spine labels, discreet library label). FIRST EDITION. A narrative of an ill-fated expedition, in which many of the members perished and only a few, including the two authors, survived. The goal of the expedition was to establish a commercial trade toute to Central Africa, via the River Niger.
