New York: Doubleday, Page and Company, 1905.4to, finely bound by Herbert Weitz of Weitz-Coleman (stamped NYC 1992) in full smooth calf gilt, with inset central cartouche featuring and onlaid leather character portrait of Rip Van Winkle (after Rackham's illustration "There was one who seemed to be the commander"), design on rear board in gilt (Rackham's dog and Rip Van Winkle), spine in six compartments with onlay leather and gilt designs and gilt-lettered red and blue compartments, flora and fauna gilt design around borders, marbled endpapers, a.e.g., quarter calf and cloth-backed slipcase. With numerous tipped-in color plates by Rackham. Foxing to a few pages.
