Indiae Orientalis nova descriptio. Amsterdam, 1634. Double-page engraved map, hand-colored in outline. French text to verso. Early map of the East Indies and Southeast Asia. This is the first map to show the discoveries of the ship the Duyfken in New Guinea (Duyfkens Eylant). With decorative cartouche flanked by native warriors, and scale cartouche flanked by sea nymphs. Framed and matted.
