Lot Description
A rare and important group of nine Chinese Export porcelain tablewares from the "Saldanha Dinner Service," late 18th century
All elaborately decorated in polychrome enamels, with armorial crest, the well with central rabbit haunch surrounded by be-ribboned wreath, with caught animal and food motifs around including birds, fish, rabbit and boar, and various vegetables, bordered by rocaille motifs including c-scrolls and shells, the raised rim with ribbons and floral swags and scenes depicting hunter and fisherman, inscribed, "Saldanha/ Deal Bu Quer Que," comprising two octagonal serving platters, two soup plates, three plates, a scalloped serving bowl, and a round serving dish, bearing accession numbers, 79.500.19-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, and labels with old Winfield Foundation accession numbers.
