Lot Description
[CIVIL RIGHTS]. Sisters in Arms poster signed by Audre LORDE (1934-1992). 1988.
11 x 17 in. printed poster featuring the text of Lorde's poem, Sisters in Arms, arranged in two columns. Her signature appears to the lower right. Imprint along bottom edge identifies the poster as being produced by/for the National Women's Studies Association at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD, 1986.
Audre Lorde (Audrey Geraldine Lorde; 1934-1992) was a prolific writer and Civil Rights activist whose work largely dealt with topics related to her own identity including Blackness, feminism, lesbianism, disability, illness, and civil rights. Some of her best known works are The First Cities; Zami: A New Spelling of My Name; and The Cancer Journals.
