Union label to lower right. 0Shirley Chisholm was not only the first African American woman to be elected to Congress in 1968, but she was also the first woman and the first African American to pursue the nomination for president of the United States from one of the major parties in 1972. Featured on this poster is her motto, and also the title of her autobiography, "Unbought and Unbossed."
