Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA]. A group of 3 photographs featuring cowboys and camp scenes.
Lot of 3 photographs, untitled but almost certainly taken in the American west based on the dry, mountainous terrain serving as the backdrop for each image. Scenes include:
5 1/4 x 8 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount showing a group of approx. 20 men, women, and children of varying ages standing in front of a structure with signage indicating that it serves as a store and lodging. Verso includes faint penciled notations which are difficult to discern (toning, soiling, small holes in each corner, diagonal crease near lower right corner, edge and corner loss to print and mount). -- 4 1/4 x 7 1/4 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount capturing a group of four cowboys on horseback with a fifth man standing in the midst of horses. The group appears to have set up camp as indicated by the tents behind them. A few wagons are also visible in the scene (toning, occasional spotting, some edge and corner wear to mount). -- 4 x 6 1/4 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount showing a group of six men gathered on the front porch of a small cabin, their bags and what appear to be a canteen and weapon on the ground at lower left. A horse can be seen on the right side of the cabin (toning, soiling, edge and corner wear to mount including chipping). Verso with ink stamp that is difficult to discern.
Together, 3 photographs.
