Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA] 6 stereoviews of the American west, incl. cowboys, locomotives, and landscapes.
Lot comprised of 6 stereoviews on 5 cardstock mounts (including double-sided example). Most of the stereoviews are untitled and uncredited, with the exception of the view entitled The Ute Pass Wagon Road, from Gurnsey's Rocky Mountain Views, published at Colorado Springs, CO.
Additional scenes include: view of engineers and other railroad employees on or near a locomotive with what appears to be "G.T.R. 134" on the side. A sign, which reads, "Rail Road Crossing, Look Out for the Engine while the Bell Rings" is visible in the background. -- An outdoor view of men with horses, some on horseback, and a horse-drawn wagon outside a wooden structure. -- Image of an outdoor gathering including men and women sharing a meal and drinks together. A grizzled frontiersman with a weapon in hand is shown at right, mounted on horseback. Note the dog sitting atop the table. Verso with what appears to be "Pleasure Pass" penciled on verso (although inscription is difficult to discern). -- Double-sided stereoview, obverse with image of locomotives near a town as indicated by buildings in the distance. A blurred animal, possibly a horse, is visible in the middle ground. Reverse view shows three young men gathered outside a southwestern structure with signs hanging on the building, one which reads in part, "Kentucky Whiskey," with what appears to be a reference to a mine. A horse-drawn wagon is visible in the background.
Together, 6 stereoviews affixed to 5 cardstock mounts.
