[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 17 quarter plate daguerreotypes of lovely young women.
Bust portrait of a beautiful young woman wearing a dress with lace trim to the neck and a lacy hair accessory, with a necklace (possibly a locket) and earrings. (Tarnishing to edges, spotting, and clouding to image; resealed 2003.) Housed in a push-button case (surface wear). -- Seated portrait of a young woman with curled locks worn up around her face, wearing an interesting arm accessory up on her forearm. (Some tarnishing to edges, spotting, some residue, and weeping; original seals.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case (many parts separating or missing) with a penciled scrap of paper identifying the sitter as "Maria F[indecipherable] Gordon age 17." -- Seated portrait of a smartly dressed young woman with large hair ribbons and a plaid dress with applied stripes. (Some tarnishing to edges, some weeping and specks between plate and glass; resealed.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case (split at spine, surface wear). -- And 14 others, including one with mat stamped for "J. D. WELLS." Conditions and housings vary. -- Together, 17 quarter plate daguerreotypes of young women.
