3 items framed and matted to 21 x 17 in. (unexamined outside frame). Navy Department document signed ("Gideon Welles") as Secretary of the Navy. Washington, D.C. 17 December 1863. 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 in. (sight). Welles informs Acting Muster's Mate Reuben Rick that he is detached from the USS Juniata and is to report to the USS Wachusett. -- Period CDV featuring engraved bust portrait of Welles. -- Printed Navy Department directive signed in type by Welles as Secretary of the Navy, 25 August 1866. 7 x 9 1/2 in. (sight). Welles writes regarding the examination of Volunteer Officers by members of a Board of Naval Officers led by Commodore S. P. [Samuel Phillips] Lee.
