Lot Description

**Winchester U.S. M1 Carbine
World War II

.30 Carbine. 17.75" barrel length. SN: 5715929. Parkerized metal finish, blued and flat bolt, walnut semi pistol grip oval cut low wood stock with four rivet upper handguard. Short stroke piston driven semi automatic rifle with rotating bolt fed by detachable double stack magazines. Receiver displays the WINCHESTER manufacturer marking and standard model marks to forward receiver. Mounts a crossbolt type III safety struck "EW", Type II adjustable rear sight, and Type IV magazine catch marked M on the face and W on the base. Trigger housing is struck with W initial as is the hammer. Sear marked SW-N, and the slide well is marked W, as are the bolt and hammer. Stock sling well shows Winchester W mark with wrist showing Y stamp. Handguard shows a W stamp to the inner surface. Barrel is struck with the standard Winchester W initial and Winchester's monogram proof marking. Right butt is struck with a single {Ordnance Wheel} stamp, which is correct for this serial range, but the marking itself shows some cracking at the edges suggesting it was applied recently, and may not be genuine. Comes with a 15-shot blued BW marked magazine.
