Lot Description
**Colt US Army Model 1901
.38 Long Colt. 6" barrel length. SN: 103454. Blued metal refinish with polished hammer flanks mounting smooth walnut two piece grips and topstrap notch with half moon front blade sights. Double action six-shot hand ejector revolver with knurled hammer spur and cylinder latch. Top of the barrel struck with two line address and patent mark reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A./PATENTED AUG. 5. 1884. NOV. 6. 88. MAR. 5. 95. Left barrel marked COLT D.A. 38. Further markings include R.A.C. markings of inspector Rinaldo A. Carr, a civilian inspector at Springfield Armory. Carr's mark appears in two places on the rear cylinder, on the left frame, on the base of each grip panel, and to the underside of the barrel near the frame. Butt is struck U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1901, and shows the port for a lanyard loop, but none is currently mounted. Serial number of the cylinder and barrel are mixed.
