Lot Description

WWII USMC Marine Raider Stiletto
World War II

7.125" double edged stiletto blade with prominent median ridge, 0.87" wide at the ricasso. 12.25" in overall length with a 5" cast zinc alloy hilt. Grip with a slightly oval cross section, prominent palm swell and cast checkering and serrations. A 2" oval guard is cast integrally with the hilt. Stamped blade with traces of the acid etched USMC banner on the obverse and Camillus markings at ricasso. The knife is accompanied by a correct pattern rivet reinforced sewn leather scabbard with staple reinforced throat, sheet steel tip protectors on front and back and has had a Marine Corps "globe & anchor" collar device attached to the tip. A scarce example of the rare WWII Marine Corps Raider Stiletto that is somewhat salty but authentic and does not suffer from the shortened or tipped blades so commonly encountered today, or the degeneration and cracking of the alloy hilt that is equally common.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
