Lot Description
Commercial Pattern 1853 Enfield Rifle Musket
American Civil War
.577 caliber. 39" barrel secured by three rounded screw clamping bands. SN: NSN. Heavily oxidized metal with no finish, brass furniture, European walnut stock. Single shot percussion muzzleloading military rifle musket with military ladder rear sight, combination musket front sight and socket bayonet lug and sling swivels. Lock with weak TOWER marking and illegible date forward of the hammer and a British {Crown} without a "VR" to the rear of the hammer. Proofs are essentially obscured by surface rust, but are visible enough to determine they are post-1813 Birmingham commercial marks. Includes a correct pattern ramrod that is frozen in the stock.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
