Lot Description
Type 19 Company Grade Kyu-Gunto Dress Sword with Knot, and Type 32 Army Sword with Reconstructed Hilt
1.) 33" nagasa (blade length). 39.25" with tsuka and saya. Single edged curved and unsharpened sword in the Kyu-Gunto pattern with a repolished blade with applied polished hamon line. Hilt is composed of brass with gold wash, and styled with sakura on the flanks and rear backstrap, in three places on the guard, and showing a nanako ground with some light engraved embellishments. Item comes with a nickel plated steel scabbard, and mounts a brown and blue infantry officer's sword knot.
2.) 30.5" blade length. 37" overall with scabbard and hilt. Slightly curved single edged sword with machine made blade featuring single fullers, and mounting a reworked blued guard on wire wrapped handle with grip scale spacers secured by a screw tang. Serial number reads 98030. Guard shows the cutouts for a spring catch that is not currently mounted. Blade is consistent with the Japanese Type 32 Army Sword with the hilt having been rebuilt. Blade has been inexpertly sharpened along the first 21".
