Lot Description
WWII-era German Senior Forestry Service Hunting Cutlass by Eickhorn
13" blade length. 19" overall with scabbard and hilt. Straight single edged spearpoint blade with gold plated alloy hilt mounting bone grips. Half clamshell guard with the knuckle bow and quillon terminating in a deer hoof. Grips adorned with three acorns to each side. Blade is signed ORIGINAL/Eickhorn/SOLINGEN with {Squirrel and sword} motif. Blade is acid etched with hunting scenes along both flanks. Obverse side decorated with a scene of a hunter sighting his rifle on a doe and stag in a forrest. Reverse features a hunter pursuing a wild boar with six hunting dogs closing on the prey. Back of the blade adorned with oak leaves and acorns. Comes with a wood core leather scabbard with brass throat and drag.
